Obituary for Doreen Debra "Debbie" Roy

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Doreen "Debbie” Debra Roy, late of Prince Albert, SK on April 29th, 2023, with her loving family by her side at the age of 57 years. Debbie was born on March 16th, 1966, to Pierre Budd and Georgina Francis (nee Morin) in The Pas, Manitoba. In Debbie’s early years, she was raised in Sturgeon Landing, SK along with her siblings. She spent time with her siblings learning to care for herself & others. Their time was spent playing, laughing, and creating memories together.

Debbie made her home in Prince Albert, SK, where she met her lifelong husband Edward Cyril Roy. Debbie was going to school when her relationship with Edward started to blossom, little did they know they would be wed for 27 blissful years. Later they moved to Cumberland House, SK, and together raised their eldest daughters Amber Whitney Roy and Raven Symone Roy. Shortly after, Ed proposed to Debbie, and they got married on September 30th, 1995. Then they moved from their hometown of Cumberland House, SK to Prince Albert, SK.

Debbie then started to pursue her education in Professional Cooking. This is also when they were blessed with their youngest daughter Jade Tegan Roy. Debbie loved living in Prince Albert, SK, and decided this is where she wanted to raise her daughters, while her husband worked and provided for them. Her years had been filled with plenty of joyful and unforgettable memories with her family. She had also experienced sorrows, which she had always triumphed over with faith and prayer. Debbie had always taught her daughters that prayer was powerful and that God will take care of all our problems. A lesson taught so well that she had passed this lesson down to her eldest daughter Amber’s kids Zaine, Jacobson, & Logan.

With her daughters out of the nest, her grandsons became Debbie’s life. She cared for and loved her grandsons so dearly but the bond with her youngest grandson Logan was most well-known, "Kogan and ki-ki" as she would say. Debbie, together with her grandsons would venture off to discover and learn about life and its wonders. Most importantly Debbie taught them about spirituality and what it is to be kind, respectful, and joyous. She was so proud of her grandsons and their bond was unbreakable.

With Debbie's caring soul and strong faith, she had been faced with the greatest test of all, Cancer. She was diagnosed with cancer in 2021, it was one of the hardest battles she had to undergo. Debbie had gone through a variety of treatments and procedures which ended with a transplant. Only to find out that the transplant had not taken, and her cancer came back. At that point, Debbie took to her faith and accepted what life had given her. She turned to God preparing herself and her family for what was to come. She always said, "Be Strong, God will take care of us, remember to always smile, live your life, laugh, and love each other." When the time came, Debbie was at peace and had taken her last breath on April 29th, 2023, in which she was surrounded by her beloved family. That day, she had made her final journey home.

Doreen will be lovingly remembered by her loving husband Edward Roy; her daughters Amber Roy, Jade Roy, & Raven Roy; her grandchildren Zaine Bear-Roy, Jacobson Bear, & Logan Bear; her sisters Joyce Budd, Wanda Budd (Scott McKay), Donna (Russel) McAuley; her brothers Glenn Budd (Marlene McDermott), & Jonas Budd; her brother-in-law Clement Roy (Norma Chaboyer); her sisters-in-law Sheryl (Keith) Silbernagel-Roy, Betsy Bird (Willard Thomas); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family, & friends.

Doreen was predeceased by her parents Pierre & Georgina Francis Budd (nee Morin); her sisters Muriel Budd & Wanda Budd; her brothers Jeffery Budd, Pierre Budd, Wayne Budd, & Kimberly Budd; her father-in-law and mother-in-law Cyril (Dorothy) Roy; her grandmothers Florence Morin, & Anne Budd; her grandfathers Pierre Morin & Charlie Budd; her aunts Jean Morin, & Pauline Morin; her uncles Angus Morin & Horrace Morin; her special cousin-in-law Rose “Chee Chee” Morin (her “little mama”); as well as numerous family and friends.

God has taught me I never need to worry about tomorrow. I survived yesterday, I’m alive and dealing with today. With God’s help, I can face tomorrow and whatever comes my way. Written by Doreen Roy.
