Obituary for Arnold F Ganes
It is with sad hearts that the family of much-loved Arnold Ganes, late of Saskatoon, SK formerly of Birch Hills, SK, announce his passing at the Sherbrooke Nursing Home on April 23rd, 2023, at the age of 99 years.
Arnold was born in 1923 to Gunda and Christian Ganes in Elbow, SK. Dad would have been 100 years old this September. Dad struggled to regain his strength back from a fall in March, but despite this, he continued to show concern, kindness, and gratitude to those around him. “He is such a sweet man” was often heard by family and friends. Though his body was failing, he never ceased to amaze us with his sharp memory, sense of humor, and strong spirit. Dad loved people and had the ability to create a community wherever he was.
Dad was predeceased by the love of his life, our mother Evelyn; his only son, our brother Terry.
Dad/Grandpa will lovingly be remembered by his daughter-in-law Lorisa Ganes; his grandson Tim Ganes (Renee); his great-grandchildren Shelby, Brandi and Kaleb; his great-great-grandchildren Blakely, Quinn and Tayte; his grandson Micheal Ganes (Laura Stasiuk); his granddaughter Kristie Ganes; his great-granddaughter Kira; his daughter Heather (Bob) Cockwill; his granddaughter Tracy (Scott) Banda; his great-granddaughters Spencer and Paige; his granddaughter Tasha (Robin) Cockwill; his great-granddaughters Ireland and Katie; his daughter Leanne Ganes; his granddaughter Teagan Poncelet; and his youngest sister Jewel Cochrane.
Our family would like to thank Sherbrooke Nursing Home for providing comfort and care to our dad in his last days, St Paul’s Hospital nurses, doctors & staff, and to his friends at Luther Towers. A Funeral will be on Saturday, May 27th, 2023 at the Christ Alone Lutheran Church Birch Hills, SK at 2 PM, Interment to follow at the Saron Cemetery in Hagen, SK.
