Obituary for Ida Marjorie Birkeland

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Ida Marjorie Birkeland, late of Prince Albert, SK on July 11th, 2022, at the age of 73 years. Ida was born in D’Amour, SK in 1948 to Tommy & Elsie Fouquette. Ida took her schooling in various country schools and then graduated from Shellbrook High School.
Ida was a champion softball player for many years and could pitch those speedballs. Ida played for Prince Albert and Shellbrook teams. She gained many friendships with players, like the catcher Coreen McConnell and Linda McDaid, a very adaptable player. Ida was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame. One of the highlights in her life was winning the Western Canada Championships many times.
Ida worked at Saskatchewan Regional Hospital Laundry for 38 years.
Ida will be sadly missed by her sisters Helen Schoenrock & family (Connie (Brandon & Brittany); Bill & Loretta (Braden); Shawna (Michael, Elsie, & Jordan); Chris; Tyler (Kingsley & Kadence); Amber (Carson & Christian)); Florence & Alvin Roode (Gaileen & Jerry (Rebecca) & Shannon & Travis); & Adeff Fouquette’s daughter Donna & family (McKenzie, Tyler, & Samantha); her inherited family Sandra, Susan, Laurie, Sherry, & Wade.
Ida was predeceased by her husband Oliver; her companion Arnold Thall; her furbabies Tess, Grey, & buddy; her mother Elsie; her father Tommy; her brother Roy; her sister Addeff; her nephew Archie; her brother-in-law Fred Schoenrock; and numerous other relatives.
The family would like to thank all who have assisted in Ida’s journey throughout her life. At Ida’s request, no funeral service will be held.
