Obituary for Myrtle Vera Servetnyk

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister, and friend Vera Servetnyk on May 4th, 2022, at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, SK at the age of 73 years.

Vera was born in Fort a la Corne reserve in Saskatchewan on April 13th, 1949, to Colin and Marjorie McKay. She was predeceased by her husband Edward Servetnyk of 34 years. They started their life together in Saskatoon, SK later moved to Gimli, MB, and then back to Saskatoon before his passing on November 11th, 2008. As a young family with Sherry & Jenny, they loved going to Waskesiu, watching their baseball games, going to school events, and spending quality time together.

Vera's greatest treasures were her daughters and grandchildren. She loved spending time with them, providing for them, and always listening with an open heart. She enjoyed camping, the lake, spending time in the water, singing, dancing, laughing, and cooking. She appreciated her culture and embraced cooking bannock for everyone to indulge in. She also loved baking with the apple of her eye, her great-grandchild Annabelle. We had lots of adventures that she loved and appreciated. In the earlier years of Vera's life, she was a daycare provider and the children adored her, in which they still came and saw her up until her passing. Pat Bell saw her ad in the newspaper for a daycare provider and from a small clipping she saved, they became best friends for 42 years. She was the most giving woman in the world, she would give you her shirt off her back or the last dollar in her pocket.

Vera is survived by her daughters Sherry and Jenny (Darcy); her grandchildren Jeaninne, Trent, Shania, Justin, & Myles; her great-grandchild Annabelle; sisters, brothers, many nieces, nephews, and friends, too many to name but never forgotten.

Vera is predeceased by her husband, her parents, sisters (brothers-in-law), brothers (sisters-in-law), and friends who she has reunited with on the other side. The most important advice Vera could give you was to live life to the absolute fullest and always remember to laugh.

We would like to thank Victoria hospital and its staff for the amazing support and care they provided to her in her final days. There will be a private Celebration of Life at a later date. Condolences can be sent to the family on our website at www.mackenziechapel.ca.  Arrangements in care of MacKenzie Chapel & Crematorium.  Brian & Bev Stobbs, Mark Gyoerick - Matayah Loyst - Mel Curle. 306.763.8488.
