Obituary for Pauline Pawlyshyn

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Pauline Pawlyshyn, late of Prince Albert, SK on April 24th, 2022, at the age of 102 years. Pauline was born on November 19th, 1919, on a farm outside of Wakaw, SK to George & Pauline Pawlyshyn. She was the eldest of six children. She had four brothers George, John, Bill, Peter, and one sister Mary. Mary is the only surviving sibling.
Pauline completed most of her high school education in the Wakaw area.

On August 25th, 1947, she married Michael Pawlyshyn. They enjoyed many years together. They both owned and operated the Empire Grocery on River St. E in Prince Albert, SK. They had many loyal customers and apparently were very well known for their homemade sausage.

Pauline loved to garden. She had a huge garden with potatoes, carrots, peas, beans, raspberries, & rhubarb. She canned and froze the produce for the winter months. She had a garden even last year at the age of 101.

Most people would agree that Pauline was an amazing person. She could be seen raking leaves, shoveling snow, walking to Wal-Mart for groceries, watering her garden with just a pail, baking bread every Saturday, washing clothes with a wringer washer, drying clothes on a clothesline, etc. Truly amazing given her age and the fact that she did everything single-handedly and without modern conveniences. She lived independently in her own home until just recently. She often said she just did these things “slowly slowly”.

We will miss you, Pauline.
