Obituary for Anna Leach

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Anna Leach (nee Gauronski), late of Prince Albert, SK on April 23rd, 2022, at the age of 93 years. Anna was born on February 11th, 1929, to Ukrainian parents in Tribune, SK. Anna’s dad worked for CP Rail, and this gave her the opportunity to travel across Canada by train with her mom and sister Rose.
Her early educational years were spent in Weirdale School, Meath Park School, and PACI. Mom completed a secretarial course, then worked at City Hall in Prince Albert, SK. She graduated from Holy Family School of Nursing in 1952 and then taught future nurses.
While nursing, she met her future husband Harold Leach who was a WWII Veteran. On February 27, 1954, they married and started a family. Mom's nursing career was put on hold as she raised their ten children. In 1980 she refreshed her nurse's training and worked at Holy Family Hospital in Extended Care for 10 years.
Mom's favorite places were our family cabin at Emma Lake and her home. Every summer growing up was spent swimming, fishing on the pontoon boat, wiener roasts, picking berries, and enjoying sunsets. In the early years at the cabin on Neis Beach, Mom stared down bears with the broom in hand as she called out to God to help her protect her children. Always the host for holidays and special family gatherings, there was always "room for one more" at the large dining room table. She welcomed the children and made sure there was a pail of ice cream in the freezer. She was always available to help with homework assignments.
She loved God, her family, her garden, music, reading, and her "big house". It was always filled with love and family. Mom was a lifetime member of Midtown Community Club, and being a hockey mom, worked countless bingos. She was an active member of St. Mark's Roman Catholic Church. Mom also did noon hour supervision and corrected IMS math at St. Mark's Elementary School.
Thanks to the staff of River Breeze, Whispering Pines Care Home in Canwood, SK, and Pineview Terrace in Prince Albert, SK for the care Mom received. In lieu of memorial donations, the family requests a donation be made to their charity of choice.
Anna (Mom) will be lovingly remembered by her children Sheila (Tom) Gallerneault, Patrick (Audrey) Leach, Judy (Rick) Postle, Karen Kyryluk, Jackie Leach (Claude Eckhoff), Wilma (Dennis) McDonald, Tim Leach, Andrea (Greg) Philipchuk, & Jeff Leach; her grandchildren Ronald Gallerneault, David Gallerneault, Suzanne (Geoff) Shynkaruk, Nigel Leach, Bailey Leach, Ian Leach, Steven Postle, Nathan Postle, Nicole Postle, Sabrina Kyryluk, Megan Kyryluk, Teren Kyryluk, Gerald Lundy, Ryan Lundy, Jonathan McDonald, Melissa McDonald, & Breanne Leach; her great-grandchildren Brett Gallerneault, Scott Kyryluk, Blake Williams, Leah Williams, Hunter Williams, Natalia Popoff, Nicholas Popoff, & Isaac Reid; her sister Rose Black of Winnipeg, MB as well as 2 nieces & 2 nephews.
