Obituary for Lorraine A Hovdebo

Our Mom, Lorraine Hovdebo, passed away peacefully, on March 13th, 2022, at the age of 96 years.
Mom was born in Dominion City, MB in 1925. Her parents Tracy and Jenny (nee Burnell) Sullivan moved to several locations in the Melfort and Kinistino area, as their family grew. They settled in the Glen Mary district where Mom attended Queen Maud and Pahonan Schools.
In 1949, she married Peter Hovdebo. They spent their years together on the farm at Bonnie Hill. Where they had six children, Gary (Marian), Bruce (Brenda), Donna, Bonnie (Julie), Carol, & Dale (Trine). The family moved to Birch Hill, SK in 1966 and ran a boarding house for years. After Dad’s passing in 1988 Mom continued living in Birch Hills, SK until she spent her final years in Weldon and Kinistino care homes.
Mom enjoyed being involved with many community groups and functions.
Lorraine is survived by her children Gary (Marian), Bruce (Brenda), Donna, Bonnie (Julie), Carol, & Dale (Trine); her 12 grandchildren; her 16 great-grandchildren; her brother Donald Claire Sullivan (Rochelle); her sister-in-law Gloria Sullivan; and her brother-in-law Bill Dixon.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Lorraine on Saturday, May 7th, 2022, at the Birch Hills Civic Center from 1 - 4 PM as a drop-in and visit time.
