Obituary for Harold Trygve Apesland

It is with great sadness that the family of Harold Trygve Apesland, late of Prince Albert, SK announces his passing on February 25th, 2022, at the age of 85 years.
Harold was born to Sam and Magda Apesland on February 17th, 1937, in Kinistino, SK, and grew up on the family farm in Weldon, SK. At the age of 16, Harold and his family sailed across the Atlantic to Finland, Kristiansand, Norway, where they spent a year and a half with relatives.
After returning home to Saskatchewan and finishing high school, Harold attended Teachers College and went on to teach for several years. Moving on from teaching, Harold became a Parole Officer and remained so until he retired in 1991.
Everyone who knew Harold knew he loved to golf, fish, and spend time with family and friends. Years were spent up at Candle Lake, traveling around, fishing, golfing, barbequing, and enjoying quality time. Harold’s love for golf was so great, as was his distaste for cold Saskatchewan winters, that later in life he and Anna made their annual trip to Arizona for the winter, where they could escape the cold and golf.
Harold will be lovingly remembered by his loving wife of 37 years, Anna Apesland; his son Brent (Cathy) & their children, Jillian (Ilyasse), & Kelsey (Russel); his son Kirk (Weifang) & his children Miranda (Darcy), Kali, & Jari; his son Warren (Debbie) & their children, Matthew (Stefanie), & Alexandra; his son-in-law Darryl & his children Cole and Cassidy; Anna’s children, Robert (Marte) & their children Kristina (Nathaniel) & Sean (Shawna); Calvin; Carolyn (Ted) & her son Adam (Marion); 12 great-grandchildren; his sister Sylvia (Vernon) & their children Lori (Gary), Kim (Ann) & Tammy (Mark); his sister-in-law Trudy & her children Mardi, & Cory (Marcia), as well as all his extended family, including numerous cousins and relatives in both Canada and Norway.
Harold was predeceased by his parents Sam and Magda; his brother Stanley; his daughter Tara; his grandson Chase; his nephew Greggory; and Calvin’s partner Carrie.
Harold will be greatly missed by many, many friends, some lifelong, and his passing will leave a tender spot in all our hearts.  We are comforted to know that you are now free from pain and that you are reunited with your family and friends already departed.
Harold’s family would like to extend a warm and sincere thank you to all of the health care workers that crossed his path over the past few years, especially his dialysis team who went above and beyond to keep him healthy and make him comfortable.
Rest in Peace, Harold. You lived an amazing life filled with happiness and love, one we should all aspire to live ourselves.
