Obituary for Debra Darlene Juker

It is with great sadness and very heavy hearts the family of Debbie Darlene Juker, announce her passing on December 24th, 2021, at the age of 68 years after fighting a very courageous battle with double pneumonia.

Debbie was born in Shellbrook, SK on March 3rd, 1953, to Stanley and Annie Woloszyn.  She was raised on the family farm in Cookson, SK and was the youngest of ten girls. Debbie was “the baby”. Debbie attended school at Cookson, Vanmerhen, Wild Rose, and then Carlton Comprehensive High School. Debbie graduated from Carlton in 1971.

Debbie started her career at the Saskatchewan Penitentiary in 1974. Debbie has numerous clerical positions, the last one being Pay and Benefits Coordinator. While working at the Penitentiary she met the love of her life and best friend Jim. Jim & Debbie were married on July 21st, 1979. Debbie loved her work at the Saskatchewan Penitentiary and helped the employees with her sincere caring and thoughtfulness for their needs. Due to rheumatoid arthritis, Debbie had to take an early retirement in 2004, after 28 years of dedicated service.

Debbie & Jim honeymooned to Florida exploring many of the states along their way.  They loved to travel. In later years they toured Niagara Falls and then on to the Maritimes for another beautiful vacation. They not only toured the East of Canada but also traveled west to B.C and the island to visit family. On their route to their winter home in Arizona, stops were made at Las Vegas and numerous spots along the way. One of the most memorial trips of all was when Debbie and Jim toured Europe for their 25th wedding anniversary.

The last ten years they spent at the Melody Mobile Court in Yuma, Arizona where the dry, hot weather helped Debbie cope with her arthritis. Debbie could be found tending to their orange trees and spending time with their remarkably close friends in their community that they called home for their winters.  She would spend time at the Clubhouse a few evenings a week playing Hand & Foot; she spent a lot of time at the pool in the 90-degree water; and Tuesday mornings they would take their part in preparing the rotating group breakfasts at the park. Back home, fishing at the Narrows at Waskesiu was a very big part of Debbie & Jim’s retirement years.

Debbie’s family was very close. We would gather twice a year to have family get togethers. They consisted of meeting at Debbie & Jim’s house in August to celebrate Mom & Dad’s birthdays and playing some cut-throat croquet all day! The second occasion was meeting every Christmas, renting a hall, and celebrating our Christmas Day together. We were a huge and grateful family, that enjoyed the time spent together.

Debbie was a beautiful soul and truly one of a kind that touched the hearts of many people with her kindness, warm heart, and gentle spirit. She had a heart of gold, the gentlest demeanor, a quick sense of humour, her infamous one-liners, and her special smile that said it all.

Debbie will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 42 years Jim; her stepson Jason; her sisters Margaret, Allison, Gladys (Arnie), Betsy, & Sharon; her brothers-in-law Harold (Helen), and Allan; her foster brother Bob Albers (Ruby); her sister-in-law Dorothy (Al); as well as numerous extended family and friends.

Debbie was predeceased by her parents Stanley & Annie; her sisters Jenny, Mary, Irene, & Violet; her infant sister Leona; her infant brother Joey; her parents-in-law Bud and Jesse; her 2 stepsons Tracey and Robby; her brothers-in-law Al, Clare, Lloyd, Toby, and Larry; her sister-in-law Patty; her nieces Lana and Glenda; her nephews Jim and Jordan.

A Funeral Service will be held at St Mary’s Roman Catholic Church on January 12th, 2022, at 2 PM in Christopher Lake, SK.  Coffee and dainties to follow service at the Christopher Lake Legion Hall. The service will be recorded, and the link to watch online is https://youtu.be/FRFv76atV40.
