Obituary for Margaret Ellen Calder

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many, Margaret Ellen Calder, late of Prince Albert, SK. Mom passed away peacefully at the age of 88 years at Mont St. Joseph Home with her daughters by her side.
Mom was born and raised in St Walburg, SK. She was the second of four children born to Theman and Hilda McGuire. As a young woman she moved to Saskatoon, that is where she met her future husband, Aubrey Calder. They married in St Walburg, SK in April 1955. They were blessed with two daughters, Linda and Joanne. In 1963 the family relocated to Prince Albert, where Mom was the Office Supervisor of Mutual Life of Canada until her retirement in 1991.
Mom was the best of bakers, often treating her family to fresh bread and cinnamon buns. She was a member of Nisbet United Church and then Wesley United Church. She spent many hours volunteering her time with friends that she met there. She was an excellent seamstress and quilter. She made each daughter and grandchild a special quilt, with fabric and patterns specifically chosen with that person in mind.
Mom loved to travel and was fortunate enough to vacation many times in Hawaii with her sister and brother-in-law. She visited Europe, Great Britain, and Alaska. Her most treasured trip of all was to Ireland with her daughters. Many happy summers were spent at her cabin at Candle Lake.
Mom, you will forever be in our hearts.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Linda (Tom) Aydt of Prince Albert, SK, and Joanne (Marvin) Jones of Castlegar, BC; her grandchildren Jon (Rachel) Aydt, Meghan Aydt, Dylan (Amber) Jones, Tenneil Jones, and Tyler (Alysha) Jones; her great-grandchildren Theron, Keenen, Natasha, Zoey, Esme, and Thomas; her sister Mary Glessing of Calgary, AB; her brother-in-law Norman Baldwin of St Walburg, SK; as well as seven beloved nieces and their families.
She was predeceased by her husband Aubrey Calder; her parents Theman (Hilda) McGuire, her brother and sister-in-law Jack (Marg) McGuire; her sister Dorothy Baldwin; her special brother-in-law Clarence Glessing; her nephew Michael McGuire; and her lifelong friend Trudy Gallagher.
There will be a Celebration of Life held for Marg in the spring of 2022. The family would like to thank Mont St. Joseph Home for their kindness and loving care. In lieu of flowers, we would like donations to be made in memory of Marg to the Mont St. Joseph Foundation, 777 28th St. East, Prince Albert, SK, S6V 8C2.
