Obituary for Genevieve Margaret Thompson

Genevieve Margaret Thompson (nee Simpso), late of Points West Living, Prince Albert, SK., passed away on November 20th, 2021, at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, SK. She was 94 years old. Genevieve was born in Birch Hills, SK. She graduated from Marvel Beauty School in Regina when she was 17 years old and started her hairdressing business in Birch Hills, SK. She spent her early years on the family farm northeast of Birch Hills, SK. This is where she and Ward raised their eight children. In later years, she had a successful career and businesses in Ontario before returning home to the West. She retired to Melfort, SK and helped with a family business, remarried, and continued an active life in her church. She loved to entertain and was so happy when her family including all the cousins and friends arrived. The more the merrier!

Genevieve is survived by her husband Ab Pellegrini; her daughters Wendy (Bob) Veale of Post Falls, Idaho, Cathy (Mark) Lavender of Capreol, ON, Jannette (Chris) Ropeta of Fenton, Michigan, & Lisa (Ron) Roberge of Melfort, SK.; her sons Richard (Gail) Heffernan of Ta Ta Creek, B.C., Tim (Judy) Heffernan of Emma Lake, SK., & James Heffernan of Sherwood Park, AB, as well as 14 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces & nephews.

Genevieve was predeceased by her husband Ward Heffernan of Birch Hills, SK.; her son Mark Heffernan; her parents Conrad & Ann Simpso; her sister Dora Boisson of Medicine Hat, AB; her husband Alan Thompson of Melfort, SK; & her grandson Steven Heffernan.

Genevieve’s funeral will be held at St. Joseph Church in Prince Albert, SK, on November 27th at 10:00 am.  Service will be live-streamed and videotaped.  To view the service, the live stream link is https://youtu.be/dHG11rt2OPc.  Due to COVID-19 restrictions, no funeral lunch or family function will be held at this time.
