Obituary for Lloyd Albert Keller
Lloyd passed away peacefully with his family by his side after a brief illness at the end of a long and happy life. Lloyd was survived by his loving wife of 61 years Patricia, his son Tim Keller (Nancy), his daughter Lynda Gwilliam (David), his grandchildren Carly Lepage (Rejean), Rylan Jarrett (Tessa), Brady Keller (Kennady), Megan Jarrett, Kristie Keller (Taylor), & Peyton Gwilliam, his great-grandchildren Logan, Ruby, and Addison, his seven siblings Lorraine, Cliff, Evelyn, Rick, Marilyn, Wayne, & Phyllis, his sister-in-law Shirley (Ron).
Dad had an extensive career of over 38 years with Canadian Pacific Railway, CNCP Telecommunications, and Unitel. He was a very dedicated employee traveling throughout North Central Saskatchewan regularly and had a keen interest in technology and electronics. He was also an enthusiastic third-degree black belt in Judo and competed across western Canada. He was a nationally certified Judo coach and official; coaching and officiating at regional, provincial, national, and international competitions. In 1998, Prince Albert Sports Hall of Fame recognized him as a builder and spent over 50 years with Prince Albert Judo Club and Judo Saskatchewan. Dad also served as co-chair of Judo at the 1999 Western Canada Summer Games.
As an avid fisherman, Dad enjoyed many, many days on the lake with grandkids, friends, and family. Dad even also caught a few trophy size fish. As a faithful servant to the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Dad volunteered countless hours over many decades. He lived out his faith daily by putting others first and through his many acts of kindness, generosity, and willingness to lend a helping hand. Dad’s biggest passion was always his family and especially his grandkids. He could hardly wait to spend time with them. We have all learned so much from him and we will miss him dearly.
Our family would like to thank the very thoughtful and caring staff of Pineview Care Home for the outstanding services they provided for Dad, as well as the kindness and compassion they showed to both Mom and Dad throughout the years and particularly in his last days. They met all his needs and then some!!
Dad was a humble man and as such he did not want to have a big funeral service. A private family memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers or other tributes, Lloyd’s family would welcome donations to Pineview Care Home or a charity of the donor’s choice.
