Obituary for Victor Harry Harmatiuk
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Victor “Vic” Harry Harmatiuk on Thursday, April 22nd, 2021 at Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home in Prince Albert, SK at the age of 72 years. Victor was the fourth child born to a family of seven children. He happily grew up on the family farm along with his parents and siblings during the ‘Good Ole Days. There were many fun things to enjoy like watching the Northern Lights dance in the sky at night. Also playing games, one of which was ‘Tin Can’ or sliding in the winter along with the neighboring children.
There were also tasks and chores to do among which were to keep the wood box filled and the water barrel full by the cookstove. Most of all enjoying feeding and playing with all the little animals.
School days were fun at the one-room school with only one teacher and having to walk about one mile anxiously meeting many of his classmates along the way.
After completing his education in Prince Albert riding in on the school bus, Vic moved into the city to live and work where he was employed at several jobs which he thoroughly enjoyed. Eventually, he decided to spread his wings and fly, moving to Calgary where he resided and worked as a Desk Clerk at the Pointe Inn for several years.
Due to the beginning of worsening health issues, Vic finally had to move back to Prince Albert and living at several Care and Nursing Homes where he was very well cared for and so content always.
Vic so loved to dance and immensely enjoyed music always clapping his hands and tapping his feet, Amazingly wonderful.
Victor is lovingly remembered by his three brothers: George (MaryAnn), Denis (Colleen), and Allan; his sisters: Gloria (Oliver) Lepine, and Toni Boyko; along with his niece and nephews and their families. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered with many heartfelt treasured memories by all his family.
Victor was predeceased by his parents Mike & Annie Harmatiuk; his sister: Marcella Harmatiuk (Gloria’s twin sister at infancy); his brother-in-law: Mike Boyko; his nephew: Lee Zoerb Jr.
A viewing for Victor will be held Friday, April 30, 2021, at 1:00 pm at Mackenzie Funeral Chapel. There will be a private family Celebration of Life at 2:00 pm Friday, April 30, 2021 at Mackenzie Chapel. Arrangements in care of Mackenzie Chapel and Crematorium Prince Albert – Shellbrook Funeral Home: Brian & Bev Stobbs, Renee Phaneuf, Mark Gyoerick.
