Obituary for Patti Lynn Ozmun (Skaar)

Patti-Lynn Ozmun
May 1, 1957 – January 28, 2021
It is with deep sadness that the family of Bruce Ozmun shares the news of the passing of Patti-Lynn; a well-loved wife, mother, and grandmother.
Pat, as she was known to family and friends, passed away the evening of January 28, 2021 in St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, SK. It was there she had been hospitalized for the past three months, struggling with complicated health issues. She passed away quietly, with her family by her side.
Patti-Lynn was born in Union Memorial Hospital in Birch Hills, SK. On May 1st, 1957; the third of three daughters born to Lester and Phyliss Skaar of Birch Hills, SK. She attended all her twelve years of schooling in Birch Hills, SK. Shortly after finishing Grade 12, Pat moved to Melfort, SK, where she was employed for a time.
Pat later moved to Prince Albert and worked at MacLeod’s Store. It was there she met and worked with her future sister-in-law, Sharon, sister to Bruce Ozmun. Bruce and Pat’s courtship led to their marriage, which took place on June 29th, 1985 at the Lutheran Church in Birch Hills, SK.
The couple made their home on the farm south of Prince Albert, Bruce ran his own business as a mechanic; grain-farmed and raised cattle. Pat began a new venture raising chickens, which both she and her two young nieces enjoyed. Pat had a great love of animals and always had pets. She worked as a dog groomer for a period before allergies caused her to quit.
Patti-Lynn and Bruce were blessed with two lovely daughters; Kali was born February 2nd, 1986 and Krista on April 21st, 1989. Pat stayed busy on the farm as a homemaker and mother, while Bruce, now working for Cameco, was away from home for a period of time each month.
The Ozmun’s were overjoyed to welcome their grandson, Jayden, to the family in May of 2008, born to their daughter, Krista. A granddaughter was added to the family in March 2009 when Tessa was born. The grandchildren got to three in June 2017, when Blakely was born to Krista and Shaun. The grandchildren have been a source of pride and joy for both Pat and Bruce. Pat was happy when Jayden was able to visit her once during her time spent in the I.C.U of St. Paul’s Hospital.
Patti-Lynn will be forever missed by her husband Bruce, her two daughters: Kali (Prince Albert, SK); Krista (Shaun Fenner) (Saskatoon, SK) their children, Jayden and Blakely; and Tessa (Dalmeny, SK).
She is also remembered and will be missed by her two older sisters and their husbands: Melody(Royden) MacMahon, their daughter and her family (Calgary, AB) and Pamela (Frank) Hayes (Okotoks, AB) their three daughters and families. Also, her brother-in-law Blair (Yvette) Ozmun (Delmany, SK) and sister-in-law Sharon Ozmun (Salmon Arm, BC).
Patti was predeceased by her parents, Les and Phyllis Skaar (Birch Hills, SK). Her in-laws Vern and Fern Ozmun (Prince Albert, SK).
Much gratitude is extended to the doctors, nurses, and staff of St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon. Their kind and compassionate care of our loved one will not be forgotten. We would also like to send a big Thanks to the Lutheran Chaplain for the support.
A private family gathering, in celebration of Pat’s life will be arranged in care of MacKenzie Chapel & Crematorium – Shellbrook Funeral Home. Brian & Bev Stobbs, Renee Phaneuf & Mark Gyeorick – Funeral Directors. www.MacKenzieChapel.ca 306.763.8488.
