Obituary for Peter Henderson Edwards
Peter Henderson Edwards was born in Daysville, SK, on October 11, 1924 and passed away gracefully in the early morning hours of September 17, 2020.
Peter is survived by his wife of 73 years, Irene. He is also survived by his five children: Trudy (Bob) Migneault of Rosthern; Bob Edwards of Waskesiu; Tammy (Bill) Hryciuk of Prince Albert; Raymond (Leslie) Edwards of Saskatoon; and Jim (Celynne) Edwards of Calgary. Peter is survived by nine grandchildren: Heidi (Mike) Migneault/Walker; Trenton Delveccio; Melanie (Mark) Potts, Amber (Phillippe) Labrosse; Tye Edwards; Donovan Sheridan and Owen Edwards; and Sydney Edwards. His great grandchildren: Tanner Migneault; Remy Walker; Saisha and Ave Labrosse; Finn and Lincoln Potts.
Peter is predeceased by 9 of his siblings and 4 stepsiblings. He is survived by one brother, Albert and one stepsister, Edna.
Peter formed his parents farm till he joined the army in 1943, at the age of 19. He returned to Sask. in 1945 and worked in the local general store in Fairholme. There he met Irene, where she was teaching at Freemont School. While working at the store he was approached and asked if he would like to work for the Department of Natural Resources (DNR). This was the beginning of a long and glorious career. Peter ended up working for them for 39 years and ended his career as Director of Fisheries for Northern Sask.
Peter had a short hiatus from Fisheries where he tried his hand at commercial fishing and then running the fish plant at Reindeer Lake Co-op Point. He was also supervisor for the “Armstrong Fire” north of Green Lake.
Peter enjoyed curling in the earlier years and golfing was his passion. He continued to golf till he was in his nineties. He loved playing with his grandkids and enjoyed bouncing them on his knee and singing a little ditty.
