Obituary for Victor William Arp

In loving memory of Victor Arp of Star City, Saskatchewan. Victor passed away at the age of 78 on July 17, 2020 after complications due to an infection at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Victor was born in Lac Vert, Saskatchewan and grew up on the farm. He worked for many neighboring farmers before heading to BC and worked two seasons at a logging camp. In between his tours he met Petra and began a courtship by letters. He married Petra in September 1962 and started a family in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. He worked many trades up until he started his own company in the early seventies called Midway Construction. The early eighties saw a downturn in house construction, and he became a construction supervisor for Remai Developments/Span West from 1984 to 2015. He was a tireless worker and supervised the construction of several apartment buildings and condos throughout Saskatchewan and Alberta. Upon the kids growing and leaving home, Vic and Petra moved to Star City in 2005 where Petra still resides today. He loved his family and his dog Shep.

He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife Petra of 57 years, his son Eric (Jacquie), daughters Cathy (Kevin) Burroughs, Sheila (Craig) Jones & Kerry (Kevin) Ramsdell. Grandchildren Nicholas, Julia and Steven Arp, Kriston (Dustin) Rombough, Coralea (Dillon Rees) Burroughs, Colton Burroughs, Montana Jones, Roger (Kay) Hardman, Kayleen (Michael) Morley and Keegan Ramsdell. Greatgrandchildren Carley and Carson Hardman, Luna Morley and step-greatgrandchildren Levi and Ayden Rombough. One brother Henry (Noreen). Two brother in-laws Ole Runkvist and Ken Nevland. Three sister in-laws Ruth Arp, Shelley Runkvist and Alpha Harper. Many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents Henry and Marie Arp, three brothers Edward, Cecil and Teddy, seven sisters Helen Kambeitz, Sarah Buhay, Jean Harder, Viola Nevland, Diane Arp, twins Ruth and Clara Arp. Granddaughter Amber Jones.

A private family service is scheduled for the Mackenzie Funeral Home at 130-9th Street East in Prince Albert. Pastor Claude Tucker will officiate, and interment will follow at the Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. A visitation open to all will precede the funeral starting at 7pm on Wednesday July 22nd at the Mackenzie Funeral Home.
