Obituary for Edna Gunderson

Gunderson, Edna Norene (nee Jung), age 93 passed away peacefully in Shellbrook on June 19, 2020.
Edna was born on May 28, 1927 in Mont Nebo delivered by her Grandma Margaret Sasakamoose Cameron. Growing up Edna attended Fur Lake and Mont Nebo School. She worked at the Shellbrook Hotel, Prince Albert Sanitorium and then in the Tranquille Saan in Kamloops, B.C. She then married the love of her life Isaac Gunderson in Vancouver in April 1950 and moved to her first home a Railway Car while Isaac moved around from job to job from B.C. to Oregon. They finally settled in Everett, Washington where they raised their two daughters. In later years they would move back to Mont Nebo to be closer to her parents and family. They bought the Mont Nebo Store and they helped in the Community Club with many functions.
Edna loved spending time with family especially her grandchildren, playing cards, gardening, yard sailing and thrifting and always enjoyed a good laugh. Edna and Isaac traveled all over the world and enjoyed many adventures, always visiting and placing family first.
Edna was known to be a Character in the Shellbrook Parkland Care Home, always saying something witty and funny and keeping everyone on their toes. Edna was feisty, challenging, loving and caring and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
Edna was predeceased by her husband: Isaac; her daughter: Gail Anne; her parents: Billy and Christy Jung; her sisters: Lorna (Don) Whitehouse and Vi (Al) Plastow; her brothers: Harold (Erna) Jung, Hugo (Edna) Jung and Irving Jung; brothers-in-law; Jacob (Margaret) Gunderson, John (Dorothy) Gunderson and Arnold (Frances) Gunderson; sister-in-law: Ilma (Ingvald) Gunderson; and many dearly loved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Edna is lovingly remembered by her daughters: Joyce (Steve) Newsome and Sherry (Glenn) Mezzo; her grandchildren: Tamara (Gord Graham) Mezzo, Shalaine Mezzo, Cieanna (Dan Russell) Newsome and Isaac (Caitlyn) Newsome; her great-grandchildren: Benn Graham, Sam Graham, Ezra Newsome and Clara Newsome-Russell; her sister: Myrtle (Wayne) Six; her sister-in-law: Elsie Gunderson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Private Service during Covid will be held at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel. A Memorial Service will be held in the future. Interment at the Aaseral Cemetery in Mont Nebo, SK. Donations can be made to the Aaseral Cemetery in Mont Nebo, where Edna will be laid to rest beside her husband.
