Merle was born and raised in Prince Albert. He worked at many different jobs including: farm hand, jockey, meat packer, butcher, road construction, RCMP guard, and finally retired as a commissionaire at the Canada building.

Merle loved dancing. It was at a dance that he met his beautiful wife Norma. They were married and had 3 children: Brenda, Fred, and Kim. Merle’s children and grandchildren were extremely important to him. He loved spending time teaching and teasing them!

Hunting and fishing were his passions. Many of you will have stories of a trip or two with Merle and Norma! After retirement Merle and Norma spent the summers camping at Little Bear Lake where he could spend quality time with “Sonny Boy” and Garry.

When you find yourself thinking of Merle, just remember that he is probably sitting in the tallest spruce tree in the swamp looking over all of us.
