In Loving Memory of
Merle Russell Simpson
Born: August 13, 1939
Passed Away: June 22, 2020
Merle was born and raised in Prince Albert. He worked at many different jobs including: farm hand, jockey, meat packer, butcher, road construction, RCMP guard, and finally retired as a commissionaire at the Canada building.

Merle loved dancing. It was at a dance that he met his beautiful wife Norma. They were married and had 3 children: Brenda, Fred, and Kim. Merle’s children and grandchildren were extremely important to him. He loved spending time teaching and teasing them!

Hunting and fishing were his passions. Many of you will have stories of a trip or two with Merle and Norma! After retirement Merle and Norma spent the summers camping at Little Bear Lake where he could spend quality time with “Sonny Boy” and Garry.

When you find yourself thinking of Merle, just remember that he is probably sitting in the tallest spruce tree in the swamp looking over all of us.

Merle is survived by is loving wife of 58 years: Norma; his two children: Fred (Kim) Simpson and Kimberly (Curtis) Simpson; son in law: Garry Williams; grandchildren: Scott Johnson, Jody (David) Johnson, Garrett Simpson and Matthew Simpson. As well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Merle was predeceased by his daughter: Brenda Williams; his grandson: Jordan Williams; his mother: Blanche (Simpson) Moffat; his father: Cecil Simpson; his brothers: Fred Simpson, David Simpson; his sisters: Pat (Wally) Kaye, Marlene (Ralph) Michel; and his brothers-in-law: Dennis Johnson and Brian Bayda.

Private family interment at a later date. Memorial Donations can be made (in Memory of Merle) to the Henribourg Cemetery, Box 17, S0J 1C0. Arrangements in care of MacKenzie Chapel & Crematorium Brian and Bev Stobbs, Mervin Oleksyn, Renée Phaneuf – Funeral Directors. . 306.763.8488.
