Wilson- Mrs Helen Cleone (Shep) Wilson
With a quiet and strong faith our Mom passed away April 13, 2020, at the age of 90. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, Aunt and friend.
Mom was born in Moose Jaw, December 27,1929 and was raised in Belle Plaine with her three brothers and spent most summer months on the family farm. After completing her schooling, she moved to Prince Albert where she pursued a career as an Xray Technician, at the Sanitorium.
It was while in Prince Albert that she met and later married Gordon Wilson on October 8, 1949. They settled into a small war time bungalow in the west end of Prince Albert to raise their family. The close-knit neighborhood developed lifelong friendships and the extension of those families have been a part of her life ever since.
Along with raising her family, Mom enjoyed working at Eatons, where she made good friends. Mom always said her friendship with Bev Kvamen was more like being sisters. They shared many laughs and adventures and we are grateful to Bev for always being by mom’s side.
Over the year’s mom volunteered her services with Meals on Wheels, Victoria Hospital, the Legion, selling poppies and Canada day celebrations, as well as the Wesley United Church.
Once Dad retired, they could be seen riding their bikes together all around the city.
They also started to travel, making several trips to visit family in different parts of the States and a very special memorial trip to Holland to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Liberation.
As a proud Raider fan she also enjoyed fan bus trips to watch championship finals.
Our mom was a beautiful, kind, caring, strong woman with many talents. However, if you asked her what the greatest accomplishment in her life was, she would always say her family. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and made them feel like each one was her favorite. She spent a lot of time at their activities, whether it was a sporting event, music festival, or Christmas concert, she made them feel like they were the stars. She enjoyed watching those grandchildren have kids of their own and her heart grew with pride with each and every one of them.
She will be lovingly remembered by her four children Rick (Carol), Leslie (Lorne), Elaine (Rob), Kimberly (Brent).
Her Grandchildren – Landon (Cherilyn), Brooke (Aaron), Barrett (Dorothy), Brittany (Hans) – Kurtis (Lisa), Katherine (Dustin), Mark (Michelle) – Cody (Amy), Tyler (Kristin)- Morgan and Grayson.
Her Great grandchildren - Adelyn, Jase, Mckenzie, Kaitlyn, Ryland, Axton, Ainsley, Samantha, Taryn, Nova, Evelyn, Kitson, Lyla and Beau, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Gordon, her parents Archie and Flo Sheppard and her brothers Raymond, Charles and James.
We would like to thank Angie and all the Staff at Koperas and River Breeze for becoming her second family. They made her laugh, feel loved and cared for. Thank you to Dr. Elmer and the staff on the 6th floor of the Victoria Union Hospital.
Due to the virus, Mom was moved to Pineview Terrace, and as a family we were unable to be part of that move. We relied heavily on the staff there, to provide care and comfort to Mom when we couldn't. When talking to Mom she always mentioned how wonderful the staff were to her. You were there to hold her hand when she left to be with Jesus in her forever home. For this, we will be forever grateful.
As per Mom’s wishes a family graveside service will be held at a later date. Any memorial contributions can be made, with thanks, to the donor’s charity of choice.
