Obituary for Barbara Jean Anne McLeod (Buchanan)

It is with deep sadness that the family of Barbara Jean Anne Mcleod announce her sudden passing on Friday, August 30th, 2019 at the Victoria Hospital, Prince Albert. Barb was born on November 29th, 1934 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan to her parents James and Margaret (Peg) Buchanan. Barb grew up on her parent’s farm which was located where Buchanan Drive is today. She loved animals and enjoyed working outside with her Dad and caring for them. Barb married Bob McLeod in 1987 and they have spent 32 years together. Barb graduated from P.A.C.I and then attended Business College. Barb worked at the Victoria Union Hospital, the Prince Albert Airport and the CN in Prince Albert, she moved with her job at the CN to Saskatoon. She was in Saskatoon only a short time, when she returned to Prince Albert to care for her parents. Barb then secured employment at the Prince Albert Pulp Mill when it opened and remained there until her retirement in 1996. In her younger years Barb was an avid curler, rode horses at the exhibition and belonged to the Royal Purple for many years. Barb enjoyed camping and her and Bob spent a number of summers camping at Waskesiu and Candle Lake. Barb was a Raider fan and a season ticket holder for many years.
Barb is survived by her husband: Bob; Bob’s children: Don (Cathy), Laurie (Henry), Jeff and their families; her brother-in-law: Larry Slater; nephews and nieces: Larry (Bev), Kerry (Darlene), Randy (Louise), Pamela (Kirk Mitchell), Carolyn (Gerald Stevenson), Patricia (Shaun Stewart), Priscilla (Irwin) Hanley and their families; she is also survived by her 2 cats: Socks and Percy, who she adored and a smile always came to her face when she would talk to them.
Barb was predeceased by her parents: James and Margaret (Peg) Buchanan; her sister: Fern Slater; her sister and brother-in-law: Jessie (Peter) Soloducha; her brother: Jim Buchanan; and mother-in-law: Edna McLeod.
At Barb’s request a Graveside Service will be held on September 10th, 2019 at Memorial Gardens, Prince Albert at 10:30AM with Reverend Nora Vedress officiating. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke foundation (1738 Quebec Ave Unit 26, Saskatoon SK, S7K 1V9) or a charity of the donor’s choice.
