Obituary for Duncan King Gibson

GIBSON, Duncan King “Gib” Late of Kinistino, Saskatchewan
June 6th, 1937 – August 20th, 2019
Gib was born on June 6th, 1937 in Lumberton, North Carolina to Earl Foster Gibson (known as Gib) and Elisabeth King. He was the second of five brothers; Foster, Warren, Bill and Bruce Gibson.
Gib lost his father at the young age of 9. At age 10, Gib and his brothers moved into the Methodist Orphanage where his mother worked. His years at the orphanage made a big impact on his life and he would often share stories and memories from the orphanage with his family.
Shortly before he graduated from the orphanage high school, Gib joined the U.S. Navy where he served for 3 years. Toward the end of his time in the Navy, he met his sweetheart and the love of his life, Audean Phillips. After several months of courtship, they were engaged and on November 28th, 1959, they were joined together in marriage, in San Jose, California.
There are many places Gib called home: North Carolina, California, Arizona, Arkansas and his final destination Kinistino, Saskatchewan. On January 1st, 1961, Gib and Audean welcomed their firstborn, Cindy Suzanne. On October 13th, 1963, their second daughter, Stephanie Audean arrived, and their family was complete.
Most of Gib’s working days were spent as a carpenter and he went on to own Pyramid Builders. He spent his later years doing what he truly loved – ranching. He didn’t officially retire as a ranch hand until August 9th, 2019. Eleven days later, on August 20th, 2019, Gib passed away peacefully at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert. Surrounded by daughters and granddaughters singing and praying over him, he went to receive his eternal reward.
