Obituary for Loreen Berniece Beddome (Fahner)

Loreen Berniece Beddome (Fahner)
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and friend, Loreen Berniece Beddome late of Prince Albert, SK. She passed away on Thursday December 6, 2018 at the age of 90 years.
Loreen was born in Eldersley, SK on January 5, 1928, the youngest daughter of Eli and Kate Fahner, she lived a simple and happy life with her four older siblings – 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Though they always had plenty to eat, times were tough - eggs & potatoes followed by potatoes and eggs got a little tiring. Mom would at times reminisce about her school days, the fun she had in school and the one mile walk back and forth to school each day.
After high school she started working at the hospital in Tisdale and with her sister Eileen decided to get a job at the “SAN” in Prince Albert, SK One evening while at a dance in Red Deer Hill, she met a fellow by the name of Ed Beddome. A year and a half later he asked her to marry him and she said yes. They were married December 3, 1952 in Tisdale, SK. They then headed off on their honeymoon and got as far as Alberta, when a job opportunity arose, and they stayed for the winter. The following Spring, they started to farm together at Red Deer Hill and would do so for the next 60 plus years.
Children soon started to arrive; Garth first, then Debbie and Brenda. A little later, further additions joined the family with Judy and Dan and then the grandchildren; Laura, Graham and Callie; recently Megan and Shaun and then her great grandchildren Olivia and Jack who she truly enjoyed.
Mom enjoyed her sports and games. She curled for many years and always enjoyed golfing and fishing with family and friends. She also enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports and if there was a game on TV you could expect that she would be watching it. In the past few years her sporting activities became less intense, but she loved the competition of a good game of bean bag toss. Mom enjoyed visiting with friends and family and a game of cards was always welcome.
Loreen is survived by her children: Garth (Judy) Beddome; their children: Laura Beddome (Shaun Spence), Graham (Megan) Beddome; their children: Olivia and Jack; Debbie; Brenda (Dan) Neville and their daughter Callie.
Brothers and Sisters-in-law: Chester Beddome and family: Calvin Beddome and family: Diane Mallett and family: Harlan Chew and family.
She was predeceased by her husband: Edward; her parents: Eli and Kate; Brothers & Sisters-in-law: George & Alice; Bud & Alma; Sisters & Brothers-in-law: Eileen Chew, Margaret & Paul Bodiou. Edward’s parents: Harry and Dorothea (Dolly); Step-mother Olive; his sister Dorothy and her husband Andrew Corrigal; and sisters and brothers-in-law Wilma Beddome, Lyle Mallett and Esther Beddome.
A celebration of remembrance will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday December 12th at Plaza 88, Prince Albert, SK.
In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to Emmanual Church, St. Louis, SK or the donor’s choice.
