Obituary for Sylvia Delores Faye Jenkins

Sylvia Delores Faye Jenkins
It is with great sadness we mourn the passing of Sylvia Deloris Faye (Nee Ouellette) Jenkins late of Prince Albert on Nov 10th 2018 at the Victoria Hospital surrounded by family at the age of 79 years. Mother to Daughters; Gale Shannon, Brenda Jenkins, Deborah (Barry Gallivan) Jewitt, Wendy (Dwayne) Vandale, Lou (Kevin) Lovely, Anita (Ed) Orr, April Jenkins (Darren St. Germain), Debbie (Dennis) Beauchesne, Faye (Wayne) Chezick and her son Ken (Karen) Jenkins. She is survived by brothers Larry Ouellette, Harold Dirk Ouellette, Dennis Ouellette and sisters Dawn Chrsitina Cochran and Danielle Ouellette. She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 35 years Jack(John) Jenkins, Parents Leslie (Nee Foster) Ouellette and Harold Ouellette, brothers George Ouellette and Arthur Ouellette and son Jerry Jenkins.

Sylvia was known to so many in her life as MOM, Grandma, Great Grandma, Old bird and many other nicknames, every one with special meaning. Sylvia was a kind, gentle selfless person to all. She always welcomed anyone into her home and coffee was always on. Sylvia was very rich with love. She always had a meal or care package for those who were in need around her, be it family, friends or strangers. Her passions were her family, knitting and cooking for others. Sylvia and Jack had people come from all over Canada for some of their sweaters, socks, jackets, dish cloths, mittens and gloves. Sylvia was always at the kitchen table; balls of yarn and patterns all around her while cooking something in the background. The kitchen table was her place from dawn to dusk and she would rarely leave her chair except to go sell her wares at the local flee markets or to play a book at bingo with Jack. The kitchen was always busy with some creation of food whether it be her famous home-made pizza buns, home-made soups, or cinnamon buns. Of course, everyone partook of her culinary skills around the holidays and the house would swell to overcapacity, but no one would leave hungry or unhappy. Mom and Dad’s place was a gathering point for us all. Sylvia welcomed many people over the years into our family; she showed them stability and what a family can be. She was a mother to all who entered and never turned anyone aside. Whether it was a kind word or story or a shoulder to shed your troubles from life’s tribulations. Sylvia had the understanding and the importance of putting family first and was a sounding board for everyone who entered her home. She was truly a wonderful caring loving mother to all of us she touched and will be missed greatly. With the loss of Jack, in 2017 Mom was lost. She never truly recovered without Dad and life seemed to deflate from her as time went on and we slowly saw mom withdraw. We can take comfort in the fact that Mom is now at rest in Dad’s loving arms and they are now together forever. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, November 24, 2018 - 1:00PM, at MacKenzie Chapel, 130 9th St East, Prince Albert, SK. Arrangements in care of MacKenzie Chapel & Crematorium – Brian and Bev Stobbs, Renée Phaneuf - Funeral Directors. www.MacKenzieChapel.ca 306.763.8488
