Irene "Tinker" Mitchell (Kirkness)
Irene"Tinker"Mitchell, beloved mother, Nana, and friend, passed away in the company of her family on Friday, October 26th, 2018. She was predeceased by her husband: Bill Mitchell; parents: Sam and Mary (Attig) Kirkness; daughter: LuAnn; siblings: Clayton(Annie), Daisy(Ragnar), Louis, Arthur(Doreen), Dorothy(Les), Russell(Rose), Edward, Jean(Gordon), Jim(Jean), Ila, and Betty. Tinker is survived by her children: Jan, Shelley, Lori, Jackie, and Kirk(Pam); grandchildren: Stacey, Jade (Regan), Kristyn(Tell), Katelyn, Kenady, Cameron, and Kaleigh; great grandchildren: Jayla and Leesy; sister-in-law: Laura; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends she considered family. Tinker was a huge Toronto Blue Jays fan and loved watching their games. Growing up, she played ball and spent many years watching Kirk, Jan and Jackie play ball as well. She also enjoyed watching Kirk play minor league hockey for the team that her husband Bill coached. Later in life, she spent many evenings downstairs at Sherman Towers, playing cards and bingo with many friends from the building. She always had a smile and loved to make people laugh. The family wish to extend their appreciation and gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Victoria Union Hospital for the palliative care they provided. For his help at this difficult time, we also thank Brian Stobbs and the staff at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel. The Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday October 31st, 2:00pm at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, 130 9th St E. In honor of Tinker's memory, Donations in her name may be made to: The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan 279 3rd Ave. N., Saskatoon,SK S7K 2H8 or the Canadian Diabetes Association 104-2301 Ave. C N., Saskatoon,SK S7L 5Z5.
