Obituary for David lorne Holtom

David lorne Holtom
It is with profound sadness that we grieve the sudden passing of our beloved father David Lorne Holtom. While he will be deeply missed, we take some comfort in knowing he is again rejoined with the love of his life, our mom, Jean.David Lorne Holtom, late of Prince Albert, passed away suddenly at Lily Plain with family members by his side, on October 21, 2018.
Dave will be lovingly remembered by his children: Corinne (Brian) Delorme of Regina,SK, Debbie (Brian) Gallagher of Saskatoon,SK and Brian (Charlotte) Holtom of Lily Plain,SK; his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his great-great-grandchild; his brothers: Allan (Ina) Holtom and Jim (Marie) Holtom; his aunts: Jesse Chudek, Maude Neudorf and Isabelle Wilkinson, as well as many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and lifelong friends that were all a part of his family. Dave was born in Prince Albert on May 15, 1941, to Jackie and Robert. He was the youngest of 5 children. He lived in Prince Albert where he met his wife Jean during their high school years. They were married on February 4, 1961.Dave was a proud and well-respected member of the Prince Albert City Police for many years. He accepted a position with SGI and the family moved to Saskatoon for a brief time before returning to Prince Albert to build their family dream homes in Lily Plain, where he lived until his passing. Dave worked for many years as a Property Manager with the Government of Saskatchewan until his retirement. Upon retiring, he devoted much of his time to caring for both his and Jean's parents up to their passings. Our Dad was the hardest working man we knew. In addition to his full-time job, playing in bands, building houses, he always found time to spend quality time with his family. His passions included music, traveling, playing (cheating at) cards, rock picking, landscaping, carpentry and his favorite: spending time with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dad passed his love for music on to his children and grandchildren, always encouraging their musical abilities by having sing-a-longs or singing and playing to them when they were babies and letting them help him strum the guitar. Some of our earliest memories of dad include: listening to many wonderful musician’s jam in our basement and dad serenading us with the good ole country music, until with wee hours of the morning when were supposed to be fast asleep. His music career started in high school, as his first "gig" was a high school dance. He continued playing and meeting a wealth of good musicians, who became lifelong friends. Mom was his biggest groupie and followed him around for well over 50 years, toes a tapping.Dave was also well-known for his incredible sense of humor. He played numerous practical jokes on us and we even managed to play a few on him.Our family is honored to have benefited from all the loving family and friendships our parents surrounded us with for all these years. We have been truly blessed. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dave's memory to the Saskatchewan Federation of Police Officers or any Charity for Children. Service for the Late David Holtom are Saturday October 27th at 1:00pm at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel 130 9th st East. Arrangements in care of MacKenzie Chapel & Crematorium – Shellbrook Funeral Home.
