Ruth Karolina Olson
1922 - 2013
Ruth passed away on June 21, 2013, in Prince Albert at the age of 91 years. She was born in Star City on January 5, 1922, youngest child of Abel and Karolina (Lena) Anderson, and later moved to Prince Albert with her family. In 1942 she married Ernest Olson, and joined him on his farm near Parkside, where she devoted her life to helping Ernest with the farm and raising their 3 children: Karl, Lynda-Ann and Joyce. In 1951, they moved the family into Shellbrook for access to the schools. When the children completed their schooling, Ruth and Ernest moved back to the farm until they retired in 1990 and moved to Prince Albert. For the last 6 years, Ruth lived at the McDougal Wings Care Home in St. Louis. Ruth is survived by her children: Karl of Prince Albert, Lynda-Ann of St. Louis and Joyce of Surrey, BC; her sister-in-law: Sarah Anderson; and many of her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband: Ernest; her parents: Abel and Karolina; and her siblings: Clarence, Roland, Ernie, Gladys, Svea and their spouses. She was also predeceased by her in-laws: Anna and John Olson; her brothers-in-law: Oscar, Edwin and Robert and her sisters-in-law: Hilma, Naomi, Anne and their spouses. A Graveside Service will be held at the Parkside Cemetery on June 25, 2013 at 2:00pm with Rev. Christopher Dean officiating. Arrangements in care of Northern Funeral Service, MacKenzie Chapel.
